Ship Construction Access Manual

The channels used for all viewings, close-up viewings and thickness measurements on the ship shall be listed in the ship's construction channel manual and agreed by the competent authority. A copy of the latest edition of the ship's structural access manual shall be kept on board. The ship's construction access manual shall reflect the following conditions for each site.
1. the illustration of the access to the place, with the technical description and scale;
2. a diagram showing the passage set up in each compartment for full inspection, with technical description and scale. The figure should indicate that the channel can be viewed in each area of the site;
3. illustrates the channel set in the compartment for close-up view, note the skills to clarify and scale. Regardless of the choice of fixed or portable channel, the figure should indicate the location of the critical structure area, and indicate that the channel can be viewed in each area of the site;
4. View and protection of all incoming and outgoing channels and affiliated equipment, the clarification of the strength of the structure, should consider the impact of corrosive gases in the chamber;
5. when the raft for close inspection and thickness measurement, there should be safety instructions;
6. any portable channel safety devices and the use of the method of clarification;
7. a list of all portable access; and
8. the ship's access to regular inspection and protection records.
The above request is the request of SOLAS Convention Chapter II-1, Article 3-64, which applies to oil tankers of 500 GT and above and bulk carriers of 20,000 GT and above built on or after January 1, 2005.
